Perhaps you have heard about the benefit of becoming a vegetarian and would like to know how to become a vegetarian.

 

The American Dietetic Association, the world’s largest organization of nutritional professionals, states on its website: "Vegetarian diets offer a number of nutritional benefits, including lower levels of saturated fat, cholesterol, and animal protein as well as higher levels of carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, potassium, folate, and antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and phytochemicals.”

 

Vegetarianism is the practice of abstaining from eating meat, particularly, beef, fish, poultry, and their by-products. Some vegetarians refuse to consume dairy products or eggs.

 

A Vegetarian may  only consume veggies and fruit and  not consume any animal products.

 

If you are worried about not getting enough nutrients there are things you can do in order to make sure that you get all the nutrients that your body needs. You can get Vitamins B12 and D through supplements or dairy products if you eat them.

1.      Be sure to consume a variety of food types. This includes vegetables, beans, fruits & whole grains in order to get the nutrients your body needs.

2.      Add soy. It is a great source of protein and is known to protect from cancer.  

3.      Eat as much raw and fresh food as you can, in order to not break down the nutrients.

4.      Eat beans and grains.

5.      Purchase a vegetarian cookbook.

6.      Try a vegetarian restaurants in your city and get some ideas to try at home.

7.      Check online for delicious vegetarian recipes.

8.      Be sure to take a multi-vitamin. Some vegetarians are insufficient in B-12
